What is mindfulness?

Mindfulness is a form of meditation, but it would be much more appropriate to say it is a lifestyle. Being mindful has less to do with being vigilant, careful or diligent and more to do with an attitude of being intentional, non-judgmental and focused on the present moment.

Do you know this? You read a book and after a few pages you realize that you no longer know what you have just read, this is a moment of awakening and you become aware in that moment that you were not present. The interesting thing now is: How do you react to yourself at this moment? Are you judging yourself? Are you simply aware?

As you can see from this example, mindfulness is not primarily about doing, but about being.

  • In your daily life, do you wish you could stay more in the present moment and just be?
  • Are you sometimes critical or harsh with yourself and perhaps also with others?

The mindfulness courses show you how to be more mindful and more compassionate through many practical, scientifically based exercises. Mindfulness-based stress reduction training (MBSR) was the beginning and is still the basis of mindfulness courses today. It is the most frequently researched mindfulness training and was developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachuttes in the 1980s.

For couples during pregnancy
The Mindfulness-Based Childbirth and Parenting Course (MBCP) is a similar course to the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Training (MBSR) course. In the 1990s, midwife Nancy Bardacke adapted Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) training to the needs of expectant parents and thus developed the Mindfulness-Based Childbirth and Parenting Course (MBCP). First time parents-to-be and parents expecting a new addition to the family can benefit from the advantages of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Training thanks to this course. Couples actively confront stress or anxiety and mindfully address current issues of pregnancy, birth and their (new) role as parents. If you are pregnant, this course is an interesting experience for you and your partner!

For all those who want more of "a life with heart"
Mindfulness-based compassionate living (MBCL) is an advanced course officially recognized by the European umbrella organization of mindfulness courses (EAMBA), which can be taken after the well-known mindfulness-based stress reduction training (MBSR). Psychiatrist Dr. Erik van den Brink and psychiatric nurse and former Buddhist monk Frits Koster developed this course in the Netherlands in 2007. The course teaches how to cultivate more kindness and compassion for yourself and others.
